Internet Safety
Introduction
WWW stands for "World Wide Web", but sometimes it might just as easily stand for "Wild Wild West".
Why?
Because as a vast network of interconnected computers, the internet is very difficult to police.
- Basically anyone can publish information and offer goods and services on the internet.
- Because of the global nature of the internet, it is difficult for legal authorities to have the necessary jurisdiction to enforce laws across worldwide borders.
- The sometimes anonymous nature of the internet contributes to deception, misuse, and cyber crime
To protect yourself and make good use of all the wonderful resources that the internet has to offer, you need to become a "tech savvy" internet user.
Therefore your Task is to
- Review material on Computer Security, Privacy Awareness, Internet Fraud, and Technology Ethics
- Create a newsletter or brochure designed to inform others about being a "tech savvy" internet user.
Process: Following a discussion and overview of internet safety topics, teams will be formed to create the brochure or newsletter. Each team will create one brochure or newsletter on one of the topics.
