Introduction

Class webs can serve many purposes. A class home page is a useful way to communicate with parents about a variety of things. It also can provide an interactive learning center for the students in your class. Class webs may contain classroom information, assignments, calendars, class schedules, spelling lists, vocabulary lists, curriculum information, student projects, online activities, examples of student projects, tutorials and presentations on various curriculum topics, newsletters, policies, articles, various forms to be printed out, favorite links, and collaborative projects. Creating a class web will also provide evidence of your competence with technology in accordance with the National Educational Technology Standards. 

This tutorial will:

  • examine the purposes of class webs 
  • explore examples of class webs
  • provide guidelines for planning class webs
  • provide step-step tutorials for creating class webs
  • provide a rubric for evaluating class webs
  • list resources for creating class webs in a variety of formats
